Battling the Frost

How We Saved the Vineyard on a Cold April Night

It was a cold and crisp April evening when the team at Doverte Brook realized that a sudden frost could cause significant damage to our budding vines. We had put so much time, effort, and love into nurturing our vineyard, and we weren't about to let a frost ruin our chances of a successful harvest.

As the sun began to set, we got to work lighting tiny fires around the vines, creating a warm protective barrier that would shield them from the frosty air. It was a laborious and time-consuming process, but we knew it was necessary to protect the delicate buds that would eventually become our prized Pinot Noir grapes.

As the night wore on, we tended to the fires, making sure that each one burned brightly and evenly. We worked through the night, fueled by the determination to protect our precious vines from the frost.

When the sun finally rose, we were exhausted but relieved to see that our efforts had paid off. The buds were intact, and the vineyard was safe from the damaging effects of the frost.

Looking back on that cold April night, we realize that it was a turning point for our vineyard. We learned that growing grapes and producing wine is not just about the hard work and dedication that goes into nurturing the vines, but also about the ability to adapt and overcome unexpected challenges.

The experience reminded us that wine is a product of the land and the weather, and that the best wines are made with care, attention, and a willingness to adapt to the ever-changing conditions of nature.

Now, as we look forward to the next harvest, we do so with a newfound appreciation for the vineyard and the resilience of our team. We will never forget that cold April night when we lit tiny fires around our vines, a moment that taught us the true meaning of dedication and determination.
